
The legacy of the past and its impact on the present may mean that the study of history may carry emotional responses, particularly if the topic has an intimate relationship to a person / nation or culture. While Japan is embroiled in the global conversation of historical controversies, Japan is not the only country that has these. This course will focus on controversies involving World War II histories to engage with the students in thinking about how can one reconcile and re-view the issues.
